What are refurbished phones?

A refurbished phone is a smartphone that has been used, returned or traded in and then professionally tested, repaired (if necessary) and certified for resale. At iOutlet, every phone undergoes more than 30 quality tests: screen, cameras, battery, connectivity, sensors and carrier unlocking.

The difference between refurbished and used is simple: a refurbished device has a warranty, documented tests and a responsible company behind it. A used phone bought from a private seller has none of that.

The price difference comes from the refurbishment process, not the quality of the components.

How we refurbish each phone

Before any phone enters iOutlet stock it goes through 7 mandatory stages. The process is carried out by our certified European refurbishment network. The average duration is 4 to 7 working days per device.

1. Collection and initial grading. Originating from trade-ins, returns and surplus from European operators. Each unit receives an internal ID before any handling.
2. 30-point technical diagnostic. Screen, touch, front and rear cameras, microphone, speaker, sensors, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, battery and capacity, verified with PhoneCheck software and proprietary test benches.
3. Repair or recycling. Faulty parts are replaced with original or equivalent OEM components. Units with damaged motherboards are recycled.
4. Certified data erasure. Blancco wipe to DoD 5220.22-M standard with per-unit report. Activation Lock removed. SIM ejected.
5. Original software installed. Current version of iOS or Android for the model, with no modified firmware or third-party applications.
6. Visual grading classification. The scale has 7 grades: Grade Premium, Grade A, Grade AB, Grade B, Grade BC, Grade C Plus and Grade C, from pristine condition to significant cosmetic marks. All with the same technical performance.
7. Packaging and delivery to iOutlet. Plain box, device only: no cable, no charger and no earphones.

Yes. Every unit undergoes more than 30 technical tests: screen, cameras, battery, sensors, GPS and connectivity. The grade (from Grade Premium, immaculate condition, to Grade C, significant marks) describes only the cosmetic condition, performance is the same across all grades.

How much does a refurbished phone cost?

Which is the cheapest refurbished phone?

The most affordable iPhone starts from 83.99 € and the Samsung Galaxy A14 from 136.99 €, two of the most economical options. Both are fully functional for calls, social media, photos and daily browsing.

Do refurbished phones come with a warranty?

Yes. At iOutlet, refurbished devices have a 24-month warranty and used devices 18 months, covering hardware defects. This is in addition to the statutory conformity guarantee provided under Portuguese consumer law. In parallel, all customers have 14 days to return without justification from the date of delivery.

What is the difference between refurbished and used?

A refurbished device is professionally tested, graded, sold with a warranty and invoice by a company. A used device (OLX, Facebook) is sold as-is without tests, without a warranty and without recourse in case of a problem.

Does the refurbished phone work with my carrier?

Yes. All smartphones at iOutlet are unlocked and work with any Portuguese carrier, MEO, NOS, Vodafone, DIGI or any other. They also work with any European carrier.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. With FLOA (BNP Paribas) you can split the payment into 3 or 4 instalments on purchases from £100. Klarna offers "pay later", you receive the order first and pay the full amount in one go. We also accept Multibanco, MB WAY and credit or debit card.

Do you deliver nationwide?

How do I know the phone isn't stolen?

All phones come with a documented IMEI checked against international databases of devices reported as lost or stolen. iOutlet does not accept stock that fails this check.

Does the phone come with an Apple ID or locked Google account?

No. Step 4 of the process is certified Blancco erasure, which removes any previous ID. The phone is delivered ready to set up with the customer's new account. If you receive a locked device, iOutlet will replace or refund it within the first 14 days.

What is Margin VAT and how does it affect the price?

Margin VAT is the tax regime applied to second-hand goods, including refurbished items. Instead of applying 23% on the total price, VAT is charged only on the seller's margin. The result is a lower final price. On the invoice it appears as "Special scheme for second-hand goods".
