Siri Updates:
While some initial Siri updates are already available in iOS 18.1, like the new glow that wraps around the edges of the screen and ChatGPT integration arriving in iOS 18.2, you will need to wait for iOS 18.3 and iOS 18.4 for more Siri features. Apple is working on on-screen awareness, personal context and the ability to perform more actions in and across apps.
“Sketch” Style for Image Playground:
Right now, Image Playground offers two styles to choose from: animation and illustration. However, Apple plans to add a third style called “Sketch”, which produces detailed drawings on contrasting backgrounds. This style is distinct from the existing illustration and animation styles.
macOS Features:
While Memory Maker and Genmoji are already available on iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1, they are not yet available on macOS Sequoia 15.1. Apple plans to bring these features to macOS Sequoia at a later date.
Support for More Languages:
Apple intends to add support for more languages in 2025, including Chinese, English (India), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and Vietnamese. The first additional languages will be released in a software update in April, with more to follow through the year.
Apple Intelligence Support in the European Union:
Apple plans to start bringing Apple Intelligence features to iPhone and iPad users in the European Union in April, including Writing Tools, Genmoji, an updated Siri with better language understanding and ChatGPT integration.
More Apple Intelligence Features Expected:
More Apple Intelligence features are expected to launch in iOS 18.3 and iOS 18.4, the latter of which is expected in April 2025 and will largely include the new Siri capabilities.
Apple Intelligence Device Requirements:
Apple Intelligence requires a device with one of Apple’s latest chips and at least 8GB of RAM. Eligible models include all iPhone 16 models, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, all iPads with Apple silicon and all Macs with Apple silicon.
Apple Intelligence Settings:
You can export your Apple Intelligence data from the Privacy and Security section of the Settings app. Biometric authentication is required to access and export Apple Intelligence data. You can also turn off Apple Intelligence in the Siri settings.
Apple Intelligence Availability:
For now, Apple Intelligence is only available in US English and is not accessible in the European Union (iPhone and iPad) or China. You need to set your device region and language to the United States. In iOS 18.2, localised English for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Kingdom is also supported.
Apple plans to expand support for more languages in 2025 and launch Apple Intelligence on iPhone and iPad in the European Union in April 2025.
