Important Update for the Galaxy S22
Samsung continues its tradition of extended support by launching One UI 8, based on Android 16, for the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra models. This update is significant not only because it is the last major update promised, but also because of the improvements it brings to the interface and features. European users have already begun receiving the update and it is expected to expand to other regions soon.
Technical Details
The new version, identified by the code S90xBXXUIGYI7, introduces a more organised and intuitive interface. Among the new features, improvements in DeX stand out, a more robust private folder system and updates to various system applications. These changes aim to improve the user experience by making daily device use more fluid and secure.
Market Impact
With this update, Samsung reinforces its commitment to long-term support for its devices. In a market where update cycles are often short, offering four major updates is a competitive advantage that can influence consumer purchasing decisions. Samsung's approach may pressure other manufacturers to review their update policies.
Future Outlook
Although this is the last major operating system update for the Galaxy S22, Samsung plans to launch One UI 8.5 next year. However, users should not expect One UI 9 with Android 17 on these models. Samsung's future strategy may focus on new features that do not necessarily depend on major Android updates.
