New Apple Maps Features
With the arrival of iOS 26, Apple Maps has received significant updates that might go unnoticed at first glance. These improvements promise not only a refreshed design with Liquid Glass, but also practical features such as Favourite Routes and Visited Places. These innovations aim to optimise the navigation experience, saving time and offering a more detailed view of travel habits.
Technical Details
Favourite Routes use the user's location to learn daily routines, such as commutes to work or school. If there is a delay, Maps suggests an alternative route. Visited Places records frequented locations, allowing users to review them later. For devices that support Apple Intelligence, the search function becomes more intuitive, supporting natural language.
Practical Benefits
These features are particularly useful for those with tight schedules who need to avoid unexpected delays. The ability to review visited places can be valuable for remembering past experiences or planning future visits. Additionally, natural language search makes it easier to find specific locations based on personal preferences.
Privacy Concerns
The implementation of these features raises privacy concerns, as they require continuous access to the user's location. Apple guarantees that the data is handled securely, but it is crucial that users are aware of the permissions granted and their implications.
