Apple Reduces Availability of (PRODUCT)RED Colour in Products Over the Years

iPhone Red
Apple has been collaborating with the (RED) brand since 2006, with the aim of raising funds for The Global Fund, an organisation that fights diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in Africa. This partnership has resulted in making the (PRODUCT)RED colour option available for some Apple products, but in recent years, this initiative has been reduced. Since 2006, Apple has been collaborating with the (RED) brand to raise funds for The Global Fund, an organisation that aims to fight diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in Africa. Through this partnership, Apple has made the (PRODUCT)RED colour option available for some products, but has reduced these efforts over recent years.

Current Products in (PRODUCT)RED

Currently, the only new-generation product with (PRODUCT)RED colour that Apple sells is the iPhone SE 3, which is expected to be discontinued in March. Additionally, the only remaining (PRODUCT)RED products are the iPhone 14 and some older iPhone cases.

Discontinuation of (PRODUCT)RED Products

Apple did not offer any iPhone 15 models in (PRODUCT)RED, and this trend has continued with the iPhone 16 models so far. Whilst it made the Apple Watch Series 9 available in aluminium in (PRODUCT)RED colour last year, this device has been discontinued, and the colour option is not available for the Apple Watch Series 10. Furthermore, Apple discontinued the (PRODUCT)RED version of the Sport Band that was available with the Series 9.

New Approach to Red Colour

Additionally, Apple has used different designations for more recent Beats products available in red, such as Statement Red and Transparent Red.

Uncertain Future of (PRODUCT)RED

Is Apple slowly phasing out the (PRODUCT)RED brand? The answer is not yet clear, as the colour could return more selectively in the future. However, the number of products available in (PRODUCT)RED has decreased significantly in the last two years, raising questions about the future of the colour.

Continued Support for The Global Fund

Despite changes in (PRODUCT)RED product availability, Apple continues to support The Global Fund through its annual Apple Pay donation programme, which runs from 29 November to 8 December. Apple appears to be reducing the availability of the (PRODUCT)RED colour option over recent years, and whilst the future of this colour may be uncertain, the brand maintains its commitment to the cause through other solidarity initiatives.
