One of the highlights of Apple's most recent event held on 8 March was the arrival of a new processor. This is the M1 Ultra, a high-performance ARM chip designed for larger and more demanding machines.
According to Apple, the M1 Ultra is the world's most powerful processor for home computers and makes its debut inside the latest Mac Studio.

Mac Studio combines extraordinary performance, enhanced connectivity and innovative power in a compact format that lets you have a complete studio wherever you want. Combined with Mac Studio, the new M1 Ultra will be able to execute highly demanding tasks that were previously impossible. And with double the resources of the media engine, the M1 Ultra can play up to 18 ProRes 422 8K video streams, something never before seen in a personal computer.
M1 Ultra
The M1 Ultra is a processor essentially made up of two M1 Max chips — the same chip found in the highest-end versions of the MacBook Pro. This arrangement creates a connection between the two CPUs, allowing both units to exchange up to 2.5 TB/s of data. Since it's made of two Max chips, the unit essentially has everything doubled: two ten-core processors combine to give the Ultra 20 cores. The same applies to the 32-core GPU, which becomes a 64-core integrated graphics processor in the Mac Studio.
The M1 Ultra's integrated GPU comes with 64 processing cores and is capable of exchanging data with the computer's RAM at a rate of 800 GB/s — a value comparable to today's best graphics cards.

According to Apple, a Mac Studio equipped with the more powerful M1 Ultra processor will be 60% faster than a Mac Pro with a 28-core Intel Xeon.
Energy efficiency is also unbeatable. The M1 has proven itself unmatched in this field, and the M1 Ultra confirms this trend. A processor with far superior performance to any 16-core CPU available on the market, yet operating within the same power envelope as the original M1.
