Frequently asked questions

Where do these numbers come from?
From public life-cycle studies (ADEME 2022, Apple environmental reports, Fairphone LCA, Water Footprint Network) — the same ones we use on the product pages. They are conservative averages per category.
Why does refurbished pollute less?
Most of a device's footprint is in manufacturing: mining minerals, producing components, assembly. Giving it a second life avoids all of that.
Does my data leave the device?
No. The calculation and the image happen in your browser.
